TERRI E. SHARPLEY
Terri Sharpley is a General Consultant for Vulcan Legal Group. She assists the law firm with developing and implementing marketing strategies as well as promoting its financial literacy outreach program.
Terri is a native Alabamian who graduated from Hartselle High School in 2001. She attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science. She went on to attend the University of Alabama School of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in 2008.
Terri started her legal career working at a small corporate law firm in Florence, Alabama. While in Florence, she volunteered with Judge Deborah Bell Paseur’s campaign for the Alabama State Supreme Court. There she was introduced to the world of grassroots politics, and helped coordinate volunteer phone banks and door-to-door canvassing.
In 2009, Terri joined the Terri Sewell for Congress campaign, serving as the Political Director. In this capacity, she had the honor of working with Congresswoman Terri Sewell to build relationships with elected officials and community activists across Alabama’s 7th Congressional District. Terri A. Sewell was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2010, and Terri served as the Congresswoman’s District Director in 2011.
Terri has also worked with the Alabama League of Municipalities and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). At the SPLC, Terri handled public affairs for the education and juvenile justice law groups–working on issue advocacy campaigns in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.
In 2013, Terri opened Abacus|Sharp, LLC--a communications and community advocacy consulting firm (www.abacussharp.com).
In addition to work, Terri enjoys traveling, painting with acrylics, reading, movies, and spending quality time with family and friends. Terri is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA), and was elected to serve as the Secretary-Treasurer for the 2012-2013 year.
